I've got Filly Friends pulled up because I do like to do that writing thing to give you guys chapters, and as I look at Scrivner with it's outline pulled up on one side, and the story on the other, I realized something.
As part of my job as a crisis worker, one of the things I need to be able to do is assist in the process of placing people who are mentally ill and in crisis on a hold. Now... a lot of people probably start thinking of getting '5150'd' - to borrow from California's statutory code related mental health hospitalizations - but it's... really more complicated than that. A lot more complicated. So much so that, after visiting Ebon Quill, I ended up having to drive the entire diagonal length
Maybe not better than I ever did, but I'm alive.
If anyone is still out there waiting for more from me, well, you'll have to keep waiting a while more, but I swear I will be getting back to work soon.

So... while reading some other works of fanfiction (not MLP, as I'm presently on a historical fiction kick), I've remembered something that I keep burying/ignoring.
WARNING: the rest of this is my ramblings about my personal family.
I have two ways of writing the fathers of my characters. Either they are absent/negligent (only occasionally are they outright abusive in any way)... or they are amazing paragons of paternal virtue.

Actually short rant past the jump.
The latest chapter release of Five Star Service was, by most measures, a success. It featured for a couple hours for the first time in perhaps a dozen chapters, and gained nine faves for it. However, it also picked up three downvotes, which never happened on a single chapter save the first. That's the problem with featuring; it gets your more notice but you risk more downvotes as well... and downvotes tend to affect your story rating much more than upvotes.
If FiMFiction user FamousLastWords hasn't already commented on his best pony playing his best genre, then trust me...he will.
